I’ve not blogged for a while. Sorry. Busy playing with my new toy. In the end I opted to keep the iPod Touch. it was just too sleek and lovely to give up. I had long suspected it would have its faults but the fact that it is just so small in my hand (fnarr) [...] [Sorry for the delay in posting this. Been a bit busy] Finally caved in and bought a Zoom H2 audio recorder. I’ve fancied one of these for a few years now but could never justify the expense (see many previous posts concerning buying a recording MP3 player). I did get a rather nifty Philips thumb-sized recorder from Tesco for about £10 but the dynamic range sucks [...] “… and as the coffee machine is not working you’ll have to sit in the VIP lounge” Golly. I thought. VIPs eh? Who will we be rubbing shoulders with? Answer: lots of plastic chairs and blank, white painted walls, sipping coffee out of paper cups. Tired arty types sat glumly typing into skinny Macs around us. [...] So we arrive at the Junction for The Unthanks – or the artist formally known as Rachel Unthank who now kindly gives equal billing to her talented sister Becky – plus massive band. They were supported by duo Jonny Kearney and Lucy Farrell who played a fantastic set starting with Hares on the Mountain, which I [...] I’ve been told by someone at work that the mis-guided bus-way route has the bike track clear though not properly surfaced (a further white elephant falls). This means it might be a bit rough to cycle down but you can go on foot with little obstruction. So I may try … WALKING to work next week. [...] What with my fingers being back in action again, at least for the moment, I’ve decided to put a massive effort into improving on the mandolin. I’ve always been rubbish at reading music, especially getting the rhythm right. It is high time I did my homework, got down and just practised and got better. [...] Went to see Terminator Salvation this week with folk (read laaaads) from work. Just as Yoda loves his Thomas the Tank Engine, I can see that the Terminator is just chronologically at the other end of the scale. Everyone in the cinema sat opened mouthed marvelling at the 30th beautiful digitally generated helicopter exploding into a [...] It was a hard weekend. It began with Yoda coughing in his sleep on Friday night. He didn’t get to sleep till 7am which went the same for us. Well, I slept in the spare room whilst L took the brunt of it.
