[I'm becoming horribly aware how much this blog is becoming just a summary of my weekends. I shall try to rectify this in future. Until then ...]
It was a mixed weekend. I worked Saturday (first time in 15 years – surely they deserve a day by now) then felt like crap on Sunday (cold mostly). [...]
Things have been very quiet. They were also very hot and humid until yesterday’s rain storms. So I’ve not been doing much except for a lot of lounging around learning tunes for Bluegrass sessions (watch this space).
The only time I’ve really been out was when we took Yoda to Lammas Land playground for a run [...]
Avec des cathédrales pour uniques montagnes
Et de noirs clochers comme mâts de cocagne
Où des diables en pierre décrochent les nuages
Avec le fil des jours pour unique voyage
Et des chemins de pluie pour unique bonsoir

“Well, did we have a lovely time [...]
We had my brother Dick down at the weekend. A jolly time had by all, mostly Yoda who was spoiled rotten. A trip to Wimpole Hall Farm went down very well. Huge pigs to look at, Highland Coos and all the tractors two little eyes could take in. All this plus a fantastic combine harvester [...]
I pulled the little bag from behind my pillow and gave it to him.
“What is it daddy?”
“A present!”
Yoda loves presents and his eyes lit up as he bounced on the bed.
He has gone to sleep on time for 3 nights in a row and woken up dry – except perhaps for the tangy pong of [...]
On Saturday morning Yoda yelled up the stairs
“Wot ya doin’ Daddy?”
There had been a tremendous clattering as I removed the bars from his cot. A sign that he’s getting bigger and more responsible. After much discussion we had decided the best thing was to make the adjustments switch to locking the front door at [...]
Once again another excellent and full weekend which may bore you if I go into too much detail. Just to say that L was due to come to my final mandolin gig on Friday evening with The Olds babysitting Yoda. But in the end they all came. Yoda looked over peoples heads from the back [...]
“Twactors!”
His eyes oggled.
“Diesel!”
A number of farm vehicles rumbled by with various unrestrained small children waving from the back. Flapping paper signs declared their allegiance to a particular nursery or primary school. Meanwhile brass bands bashed through the village high street with a clear lack of majorettes. This was The Wheeliebinfen Feast Parade.
The mandolin gig [...]
It was supposed to be a reward if he managed to keep his pants dy for two days ina row but he was so good today after we were under a lot of pressure that I popped into argos whilst he slept in the car (watched by L I should add) and purchased both box [...]
Not a very eventful weekend. A mostly wet Saturday which features me attempting to repair my flat tyre. Yoda sat on his potty in the garden (with dark clouds overhead) watching for bubbles as I fed the half inflated inner tube through a bucket of water. A look of awe crossed his face when a [...]
