Good! So here I am at work again. I have a bullet lodged in the back of my head and I’m working till the end of the week tidying things up. Outside it is sunny and we went to the pub for lunch. The rest of the week is a slow downward spiral until I clear [...] Well it finally came. Went in this morning to be told the obvious. Came home, took off the suit and had a good sulk. Unemployment is such a drag. I’m off after 3pm to the doctors. I’ve been down with some lurgy and it isn’t getting any better. My current theory is a kidney infection judging from the back ache. Everyone else in the office is off to hear more doom and gloom about our jobs. But it is all out of our hands and [...] It flashed up on my dashboard on the M11 on Saturday night as I was returning from The Smoke. So I took the motor to the shop this morning to see what they could see, see, see. And all that they could see, see, see was a misfiring engine, 4 dying spark plugs, a cab-belt that [...] I’ve not blogged for a bit mostly because nothing much has happened. Lots of fretting about work and whether I’ll have a job next month or even in the near future. Lots of companies in the building seem to be clearing out (our building hosts lots of little start-ups which seem to be wind-downs now). [...] I woke up after a lovely nights rest to the soft growling of Yoda in his cot in the other room. I turned on my PDA and looked at the news headlines. Ed Balls now says we’re heading back to the 1930s. This is after Alistair Darling pitched for the 1940s. So it is true [...] Prospects look very grim at work. Very grim indeed. Back to the hiring fair soon me thinks “Yak, yak, falling sales… yak-yak economic downturn. Yak-yak our competitors are doing worse than we are, but effectively we’re all heading to Hades. Gloom, gloom, gloom….” This credit crunch is starting to get me down. I can’t quite see Jarrow Marchers on the horizon yet but I’m sure they are on their way. Stuff is being flogged [...] |
