Freeview – At last!

A good weekend.

Finally after just under 3 years living in out house we finally have our aerial sorted. Yes, we have Freeview firing on all channels thanks to a shiny silver poll fixed to our back wall that allows the aerial to poke over the rooftop. Bliss.

I made a good attempt to watch as [...]

Packed

We had a nice visit from Dick and Mrs Dick who were toddling back from France with a car full of booze and bag-pipes. Yoda who is usually a rather shy Jedi amongst new strangers was on top form performing all his tricks, playing with his TtsTE, Andrew Lammie[sic], and various toys worth falling off.

Our [...]

Visitors

Dick arrived on Tuesday and left yesterday morning. I had a good strum on his fabby banjo and showed off my new new groovy guitar. Meanwhile Yoda, bang on queue, reverted from angel to demon, for the duration. Some night time wailing ensued. Most likely cause would be the last of his teething or simply [...]

[I've no idea what date or time will appear on this post. I started to pen it weeks ago]

Yoda was horribly ill this weekend. I was due to go to a nosh up with some former work chums on Friday but instead came home as his temperature hit a rather worrying 40.2C. The poor mite’s [...]

Visitors

Well, like I said, it has been a hectic week. Dick turned up on Thursday full of stories from his adventure in the USA. It isn’t the first time he’s gone abroad with a set of bagpipes and the result is always the same: amazement, interest and hospitality. This was no exception except this time [...]

Accumulation

Yoda is a noisy sleeper. He clicks and murmurs in his cot and occasionally cries. He doesn’t cry for long or madly but he does cry frequently which means we don’t sleep much. Disturbed sleeping is part of the package I guess but I’m starting to notice the accumulated effects.

Our plans for family walks, home [...]

Back

Well I’m sorry I’ve not posted over the Chrimbo break. Even our Christmas cards were sent out very late. I had great plans to keep things up to date, but the Yuletide rush seemed to hit me like a tidal wave and in the end I just dithered.

On the whole a good Christmas with the [...]

Screaming Reels

Oooo I’ve just had a very long weekend break. Folk Festival weekend is a big event in Wheeliebinland and is certainly the biggest gig that Wheeliebinland City Council put on. After much struggling we got tickets and even managed not to lose them. This time though we had visitors S&C from Yorkshire and my brother [...]

chien lunatique

We had a visit from my Best Man over the weekend. He was down to discuss his coming wedding where I’ll be returning the gesture and standing by him. Killing two birds with one stone, he had borrowed a mates car (with a bigger boot than his) in order to pick up a chair that [...]

Searching for Skiffle

“O we had all sorts, Ewan McColl and Peggy Seeger and … someone … Bland … what was her first name?” she tailed off and I could feel a Google moment approaching.

“Then there was that woman who sang Freight Train. She was very good, what was her name ..?”

Our weekend visitor was an elderly woman [...]
